Bangaladumpa (potato) fry


3 big potatoes – washed and chopped into small pieces

Mustard seeds – 1/2 tsp

Cumin seeds – 1/2 tsp

Garlic cloves crushed – 4

Red chilli powder – 1 to 1.5 tspa

Coriander powder – 1tsp

Cumin powder – 1/2 tbsp

Salt as required


Take a pan, add about 6 to 8 tbsps oil. This dish takes lot of oil which we will discard later.

Add crushed garlic and spread it in the oil, later add mustard seeds and cumin seeds.

After seeds splutter add the potato pieces and fry them till they are brown. Don’t put lid on the pan to avoid potatoes getting soft.

After potatoes are brown, remove unwanted oil.

In the same pan, add red chilli, cumin, coriander powders, salt.

After about 5 mins the potatoes will turn crispy and you can switch off the flame.

This potato fry goes well with any rice item that is bland.
